Welcome back to the Literary Lodge! Come on in and get ready to find some new favorite reads! I hope you have plenty of room on your TBR shelf!

With that sun shining I don’t think it’ll be long before we won’t want the blankets some of us have grabbed. But the bonfire will still be nice for this evening when it cools down again. The fog over the lake will disappear soon, and I imagine there will be several boats out on the waters. It’s going to be lovely if you want to ride one of the bikes. I went out for a spin earlier and stopped to brush the leaves off the benches for you, but with the autumn breeze, there are probably new leaves now. Oh, well. The sunshine will make it nice for picking bushels of apples from the orchard. And yes, you may take some apples with you to the barn if you want a snack while you read or sort through your pile of books. Oh, you were thinking about a hike? Sure thing! Here’s some backpacks you can use to take along a book or two and some lunch. Have a lovely day! And don’t forget to enter the giveaway while you’re here.
If you haven’t been here before, the giveaway is down below, and so are the buttons to the other party rooms. Be sure to visit them all as there are some great books being recommended, and one of them is offering a FREE kindle book!
Just a reminder, if we reach 75 people entered into the giveaway, we’ll add a 2nd place winner, so be sure to invite your friends!
Epistolary

This genre was a bit more of a challenge for me at first as I didn’t think I’d read many books written in letter, diary, or newspaper form. But the more I looked and thought, the more I discovered.

We Twelve Girls by Isabella Alden
This story is written as letters from a dozen classmates all writing about one of their special verses and how it helped them in life. Each letter is different and they are good reminders how God’s Word can change and encourage us if we let it.
Gertrude’s Diary by Isabella Alden
Another book by my favorite author. This story is a diary and one of “Golden Text” stories which focuses on how Bible verses can influence our daily life even when we think they won’t fit.
Sincerely, Jem by Kate Willis
This story is a Christmas story! I love a good Christmas story, and this was such a fun read. It’s not told completely in letter form, but most of it is. The ties to the book Daddy-Long-Legs is fun, but it’s not a retelling of that story.
A Heart’s Cry series by Angie Thompson
This series has the feel of a Pansy book, but it is not written by Isabella Alden. Each short story is a collection of letters written between a girl and her older brother. The style, the lessons, the setting all delighted me. They are clean.
Beloved Bride by Bill Potter
I had to get something besides fiction in, so I decided on this book. I’ve always admired Stonewall Jackson, and this book is the letters he wrote to his wife. So sweet.
Are you ready to visit all the other Party Rooms–er, blogs? Have fun and don’t forget to leave comments, add books to your TBR list and enter the giveaway! Oh, and these will open in a new tab, so don’t worry, you won’t get lost in the acres of land around the Literary Lodge. 🙂

“Sincerely, Jem” has been mentioned on, like, three blogs now! I totally need to read it! (soon!)
Yes! You should read it. At Christmas time maybe? 😉
Or . . . right now. 😂 I just found it on Kindle Unlimited and couldn’t resist downloading!!
Hey, that works too! 😀
“Sincerely, Jem” is so good! Sadly, my library doesn’t have the rest of the book suggestions.
What is with Libraries these days? They don’t have a lot of the really good books. Perhaps you’ll be able to find some at used bookstores. Or get a kindle version.
Read all these but the first and last. I really want to get my hands on “We Twelve Girls”!
I wish it was republished so you could read it, Katja.
I haven’t read any of these books yet, but “Beloved Bride” has been on my TBR for a while. All the others books look great, too! My TBR is really going through a growth spurt this week! 😆 Yay for FFF!!!
It is a good book! 🙂
Yes, mine is growing as well! Not sure how tall it will be, but I have a feeling it will be tall. 😉
It’s fun that we’ve both read Kate’s book!
Yes! And both added it to our top 5 list. 😀
Beloved Bride by Bill Potter sounds like something I’ll like! I’m looking forward to checking it out!
You probably would like it, Abigail. 🙂 Hopefully you can get a copy to read.
Before today I had never *met* anyone who had read “Beloved Bride”! It’s the only one on this list I know but it was an wonderful book.
How fun! It’s not a common book, so that’s fun that you’ve read it. 😀
I’m loving this Fall Blog Party! This is my first one to participate in and it has been SO FUN!! I love the creative categories, and especially this one today! 🙂
I’m so happy you are enjoying this party, Edith! 😀 There are many more books coming. I hope you’ve found some new books to read. 🙂
I’ve read the two Pansy books and love them. And these others look great too! I’m definitely going to try to find them!
You’d probably like the others then. 🙂
Ooo, Pansy is the best…I think I’ve read both of those. So many people have recommended Angie Thompson’s books today! I’m going to have to check them out!
Yes! Pansy books are always good.
You should check out Angie Thompson’s books. 🙂
I LIVE BELOVED BRIDE!!!!
😀
I know I’m behind but…I’m seeing an unintended benefit of writing in a sparsely populated genre! 😀 Thanks for the recs, everyone!
Yes! When you write a genre that isn’t overly full, you get mentioned. 😀
